Power projects: 12,851MW to be added by 2020

The sources said that 12,851MW will be available in the national grid under the medium term plan from five-seven years

ISLAMABAD: According to official sources, Duber Khwar, Jabban and Satpara hydropower projects are expected to commence supply of 169MW electricity to the national grid soon. The officials said that Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) is working on numerous water and hydropower projects under a comprehensive strategy in line with the vision of the federal government. They said that the Satpara hydropower project will contribute 17MW, Jabban 22MW and Duber Khwar will add 130MW to the national grid system. The sources said that 12,851MW will be available in the national grid under the medium term plan from five-seven years, adding that another 14,970MW of low-cost hydel energy will be inducted into the national grid under the long-term plan of 10 years. The official said that the induction of low-cost hydel energy to the national grid is government’s top agenda, aimed at providing lower electricity tariff to the consumers.
