The Anti Corruption Establishment has registered a case against a special magistrate and a police constable on charges of misappropriation in more than 1,000 traffic challans. The ACE regional director, Qaisar Saleem, told The Express Tribune that Constable Riaz Ahmad in connivance with Special Magistrate Munawwar Hussain Goraya misappropriated 1,026 challans.
Saleem said after the embezzlement surfaced to light three days ago, District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Khaleequz Zaman had stopped the special magistrate Hussain Goraya from working and appointed Senior Civil Judge Ashfaq Ahmad Rana as inquiry officer.
The inquiry officer later in his report to the district and sessions judge said that the allegations had been proven. He had recommended registration of a corruption case against the magistrate and the constable.
