At least 50 people, wishing to perform Hajj, will be unable to go this year after having been duped by a fake Hajj operator who fled with their money.
The unauthorised operator, identified as Bashir Ahmed Kilji, had set up his office at Bahadurabad. Ferozabad Police Station's SHO Aurangzaib Khattak said Khilji was originally from Balochistan and had cheated a number of people in a similar manner in Quetta before setting up his office in Karachi. Khattak said Khilji was not registered with the Travel Agents Association of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the duped customers protested in front of Khilji's former office They demanded the government to arrest the suspect and recover their money. A case has been registered against Khilji at the Ferozabad Police Station.
