BAHAWALPUR: The Election Commission on Thursday issued a notice to dissolve the election tribunal in Bahawalpur. The tribunal was to hear 25 cases of polls fraud from Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh and Layyah. Fourteen of these had been transferred to Multan and 11 to Lahore. Talking to the media on Thursday, Bahawalpur High Court Bar Association President Chaudhry Shafi Muhammad Tariq said it would be inconvenient for the people of Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan Divisions to travel to Lahore and Multan. He demanded that the chief election commissioner immediately restore the tribunal. He said the lawyers’ community was working to reduce people’s problems and that they should not add to their difficulties.
