Traffic campaign: 'Magistrate should accompany officials'

Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Siddiqui advised the inspector general of police to ensure availability of a magistrate.

KARACHI: After taking notice of the ongoing campaign against the vehicles violating traffic rules in the city, Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui advised the inspector general of police to ensure the availability of a magistrate along with the traffic police and the NGO Citizens Trust Against Crime at the checkpoints. In a letter issued on Thursday, the commissioner said, "It is advisable that such a campaign be carried out in the presence magistrate or two assistant commissioners to address issues pertaining to the law and order situation and see the reaction of the people."
