LAHORE:

A woman who lives in the same neighbourhood as a five-year-old girl raped in Mughalpura a month ago has obtained pre-arrest bail, saying she feared being falsely implicated in the high-profile case.

An additional district and sessions judge granted interim bail to Rabia Bibi for Rs50,000 until October 23.

The child victim was found bleeding and unconscious outside a hospital on September 13, a day after she had gone missing. Doctors reported that she had been raped multiple times.

Rabia Bibi said in her bail petition that police officials had been threatening her and she feared that she would be implicated in the case, though she had nothing to do with it.

The FIR of the case, registered on the complaint of the victim’s father, names no suspects.
