LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has said they were neither consulted by the ruling or opposition party over the appointment of NAB chairman, they [PPP and PML-N] seem to have an understanding to promote corruption.

He was addressing a news conference at his residence to congratulate the party’s winning candidate from Faisalabad in recent by-elections. However, the candidate Khurrum Shahzad did not reach till the end of the press conference and Imran, who was in hurry, left without greeting the winner on Tuesday.

Imran said his party accepted the election results but not the rigging and has appealed to the chief justice to take action against all those responsible of this massive rigging in the May 11 general elections.

He said it was a big victory of PTI as public has rejected PML-N over its anti-public policies and deviation from the promises made during the election campaign.

While criticising PML-N government, Imran alleged that in order to accommodate a smaller portion of society the rulers put the life of real taxpayers on risk while doing price hike on petroleum products and electricity.

“It was evident that the PML-N and PPP have some secret deal as the government has not even initiated the process to bring back Rs6 billion that Zardari had deposited in foreign banks.” The PTI government would appoint NAB head in K-P who would question even the chief minister on any bad deal, he asserted.

PTI chairman said there were rumours about Faryal Talpur being elevated as chairperson Public Accounts Committee to hush up the corruption of the last five years adding that this shows the seriousness of PML-N to deal with corrupt elements.

“I humbly request the chief justice to intervene in sorting out the real culprits of rigging in general elections as the nation was eyeing on SC for justice.” Imran further demanded the CJ should order re-counting in four constituencies with finger prints to verify the authenticity of election results.

He was of the view that the verification done by Nadra in NA-256 Karachi was enough evidence of massive rigging, where only 6,000 votes were proved correct and thousands were found bogus.

We were demanding proper investigation in rigging to impose rigorous sentence on responsible in the best interest of democracy otherwise next general elections would be race of rigging between the political parties, Imran said.

The election tribunal should be fully activated as out of 400 petitions 64 were filed by PTI which were still unheard even after four months. Imran said Tahirul Qadri was true in his apprehensions that the present system was not suitable for change which was proved after massive rigging.

@unbelievable

Maybe your consitution says something else — that the opposition leader must be consulted for the said appointment.

Maybe now you will say it's then Khursheed Shah who had consented to Chaudhry's appointment.

Maybe you don't know that Khursheed Shah has already lost majority on Opposition Benches.

Maybe it would be better to consult the second-highest vote getter as well?

Maybe it's as simple as a party which won the election and secured the majority of parliament not needing to kowtow to PTI which lost the election?
