KARACHI:
A large contingent of Rangers and police were present around Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarters Nine-Zero, causing a stir on local media.

Barriers in the area were removed, and entry and exit points were sealed. Security personnel also surrounded the area around Khursheed Memorial Secretariat. Rangers officials also shot videos of the area.

MQM leader and MNA Syed Raza Ali Abidi confirmed the heightened security on Twitter.

"They came to visit for security purposes of Nine-Zero,” said MQM leader Aminul Haq while talking to The Express Tribune. “This is a routine matter. They come on almost a daily basis."

Rangers have been carrying out an operation in Karachi targeting criminal elements. A Rangers spokesperson however denied news of a raid inside the MQM's headquarters, while talking to The Express Tribune.

The spokesperson said that the Rangers just carried out patrolling and had no intention to conduct a raid.
