Islamabad gunman Muhammad Sikandar’s wife Kanwal had her bail application approved on Tuesday, Express News reported. Her bail was set at Rs200,000 in surety bonds.

Kanwal has been in Adiala Jail since August 31, after the police booked her for being an accomplice to her husband.

She had filed a bail application at the Islamabad High Court.

On August 15, Sikandar, accompanied by his wife Kanwal and two minor children drove the wrong way on Jinnah Avenue near China Chowk around 5:22pm.

When the traffic police beckoned him to stop, he fired shots at them using a rifle. He then stepped out and started aerial firing, rifles held in both his hands. The incident had brought Islamabad to a standstill.

But the plans of the authorities to avoid bloodshed were upstaged by PPP leader Zamarud Khan, who broke the security parameter and approached Sikandar’s family. Sikandar escaped Zamarud’s tackle but as he raised his hands and ran, he was shot and then taken into custody along with his wife.
