Police arrest suspect for ASWJ spokesperson killing

The culprit confessed to having committed 21 other murders.

KARACHI:
The police claimed on Monday that they had arrested a culprit for his alleged involvement in the killing of Ahle Sunnat Waljamaat (ASWJ) spokesperson Maulana Akbar Saeed Farooqui, Express News reported on Monday.

The ASWJ spokesperson was returning from a rally on August 25 organised by the outfit at Lasbela Chowk when gunmen opened fire at him near University Road.

Sources from the hospital had confirmed that Farooqui had suffered two gun shots in the head.


DIG East Muneer Sheikh claimed on Monday that the culprit, upon being arrested, had confessed killing the ASWJ spokesperson.

The alleged killer had further confessed to committing 21 other murders, including four students and a doctor.

Police said that the suspect was a resident of Abbas Town.
