KARACHI:

A banker abducted about five days back was recovered by officials of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) in a joint operation on Saturday.

The 28-year-old banker, a resident of Defence Housing Authority, was kidnapped on September 29 in Mauripur when he was returning from French beach. The kidnappers had demanded Rs45 million ransom from the victim's family. The CPLC and the AVCC teams, after tracing the kidnappers through telephone calls, carried out the operation and rescued the man from an under-construction building in Mauripur. CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy told The Express Tribune that the kidnappers managed to escape. He was, however, hopeful that the kidnappers would be arrested soon.
