Tee Partyin’ with a young fashionista
Maira Pagganwala-Shah showcases limited collection at exhibition on Friday.
KARACHI:
Maira Pagganwala Shah’s tee party over the weekend was a world of colour. Neon-coloured Andy Warhol-inspired trays, hot pink and black cushions with trendy appliquéd moustaches and lips and t-shirts with quotes etched across them beckoned fashionable young women to splurge.
“I started designing t-shirts two years ago, but the slightly longer shirts, trays and cushions have been done by me more recently,” said the 27-year-old.
The t-shirts are in solid blacks or whites. “I really want to do grey ones but nobody is interested in that shade,” she explained, adding that pop art has always inspired her when making her creations. “My t-shirts are basic and not too crowded. It’s a plain, simple and wearable collection – no one can have too many of these,” she smiled.
Tomboy turned fashionista
While she is a fashionista on our radar today, she confessed she was a tomboy growing up. “Horse riding has always been my passion and polo was just starting to develop into one,” she said. “By the time I entered middle school, I tried delving into fashion a little. I would try to be funky with my nail colours.”
I don’t plan ahead,” she said, “I am a very spontaneous person. I go with the flow. I wish I were more organised,” she admits. She currently stocks her limited collection at One by Ensemble at Dolmen Mall, Clifton, Mantra and at Port Grand’s Peacock Lounge. Her collection is also available online at daraz.pk.
