The couple arrested in the kidnapping, abuse and murder of a 13-year-old schoolgirl were remanded to police custody till October 9 by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday.
The woman, Reema, and her husband, Muhammad Bilal, were produced before the ATC-II under kidnapping for ransom and murder charges of the teenage girl.
According to the police, the couple had orchestrated the schoolgirl’s kidnap for ransom but subsequently killed her as a case had been reported and they feared the girl would disclose their identity to the police.
A case No.212/13, under section 365-A, 302, 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code read with section-7 of the anti-terrorism act was registered at the Azizabad police station.
The investigating officer of the case told the court that he needed time for completing the investigations as he has to send the case property - a mobile phone, a SIM and a motorcycle - for examination.
The officer, while requesting the court to award a 14-day remand, said that he has to complete many other formalities, including DNA test and fingerprint reports of the suspects, to make a case against the suspects.
The court, however, remanded the suspects till October 9 to the police custody.
