Extortion: Education official’s house destroyed in Bannu

The house of Assistant District Education Officer (ADEO) of Bannu, Wahedullah, was destroyed in a bomb explosion on Wednesday.
Wahedullah filed a report with Kakki police stating he had received multiple threats from unidentified militants asking him to pay extortion money. The militants had threatened to kill him and destroy his house if he refused to comply, claimed Waheedullah.
The bombs planted near the main gate went off at around 1am while the ADEO was asleep. He was jolted awake by the sound of the blast and rushed outside to see what had happened. The police report stated the main gate along with the boundary wall of the house was destroyed due to the impact.
Kakki police official Nabi Shah said a case has been registered and they will launch a crackdown against extortionists in the region.
