NOWSHERA:

The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Mardan on Wednesday suspended three policemen of the Nowshera Cantonment police for alleged corruption.

Mardan DIG Syed Wazir issued suspension orders for SHO Nowshera Cantt Ishaq Khan and constables Bashirullah and Fazal Amin for their alleged involvement in corruption and ordered an inquiry against the accused.

According to a senior police official of the station, the three accused had allegedly been involved in taking bribes from cloth merchants. “There is a huge cloth market in Cantt which the said officials visited daily to take bribes from the merchants,” he said.

“After receiving several complaints from the locals, the DIG suspended the officials and ordered a probe into the matter,” the policeman added.
