Kidnapping case: Doctor’s son safely brought home

The boy was kidnapped from National Highway when he was returning to Benazirabad from Hyderabad.

HYDERABAD:
A 12-year-old boy Shujauddin Shaikh, who was kidnapped for ransom from Benazirabad on August 17, has been recovered in a police raid in Hyderabad on Monday. Benazirabad SSP Javed Jiskani, while addressing the press on Monday, said that four suspected kidnappers were also arrested in possession of weapons. The boy was kidnapped from National Highway when he was returning to Benazirabad from Hyderabad in a car with his father, Dr Shamsuddin Shaikh, who is the dean of the faculty of medicine and allied sciences at Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences, Benazirabad.  The incident drew a strong reaction from the medical fraternity as the doctors boycotted work at the university’s hospital for over a week. The doctors in Benazirabad only returned to work when the district and session court took notice of their prolonged strike. “The kidnappers were demanding Rs50 million ransom,” the SSP claimed, adding that Shaikh has been recovered without any payments. He further said that the boy was kept in a bungalow in Qasimabad Phase I.
