Eight injured in protests against Watan card unavailability

Eight protestors were badly injured after being attacked by enraged men in Hyderabad on Saturday.

With no food, water or a place to live, several flood victims staged demonstrations on the national highway against the inaccessibility of Watan cards.

The non-availability of Watan cards, promised by the government, proved to be the last straw as protestors blocked all kinds of traffic.

The demonstrations and the ensuing inconvenience enraged the local Leghari community, who attacked the protestors.

Protests in Thatta

Flood victims also staged a protest in Thatta after not recieving government-promised Watan Cards.

Protestors said their registration process for Watan cards was completed by the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), but Watan cards were still not issued to them.

Flood victims were promised the Watan cards in a one-week time but now they have been told to wait ten more days.

The protestors demanded the government to issue them cards immediately, so they can return back home.
