The Ghotki police have failed to recover the two Hindu boys, who were kidnapped near Qadirpur, on Monday last week.
The Hindu community has threatened to call a district-wide protest if the boys are not recovered soon as the community believes that the police negligence has delayed the process. Meanwhile, a strike was observed in Qadirpur and Ghotki on the call of the Hindu Panchayat of Qadirpur and Ghotki. The protesting Hindus demanded the police immediately recover the boys and give protection to their community.
Last week, Nishal, son of an insurance company worker, Sachanand, and Haresh, son of a goldsmith, Ashok Kumar, both students of grade 10 were on their way back home on a motorcycle to Qadirpur after attending school in Ghotki, when the incident happened. A group of armed bandits intercepted the motorcycle when they reached Qadirpur and whisked them away in a car and fled, leaving behind the motorcycle.
Last night a large number of policemen raided different villages, including, Jam Muhammad Ali Lakhan and conducted house-to-house raids but failed to recover the Hindu boys. However, sources claimed that the police arrested some suspects but declined to disclose their names.
Ghotki SSP Abdul Salam Shaikh said that they were trying their best to recover the two boys.
SHO Ghazanfar Ali Bhutto told The Express Tribune to talk to the SSP. He said he was busy providing security to a religious gathering at the time.
Ghotki Hindu Panchayat president Mukhi Keka Ram told The Express Tribune that they were desperately looking towards the police for the safe recovery of the boys. He further said that there has been an increase in resentment among the Hindu community. “If the boys are not recovered within a day or two, we will go for a shutter down protest and demonstrations throughout Ghotki district,” he added.
