FAISALABAD:

The police on Wednesday recovered a newborn boy and arrested the kidnapper.

Police spokesman Aamir Waheed told newsmen that Khalida Waseem had gone to the Divisional Headquarters Hospital  three months ago to give birth. Waheed said there she had met Naseem, wife of Abdus Sattar, who told the couple that her sister was a midwife and could facilitate the delivery.

Waheed said Tasneem took the couple to her sister Rukhsana’s house in Railway Colony where Khalida gave birth to a boy.

Waheed said after the delivery, Tasneem told Khalida that she had given birth to a girl who was quite ill. She said she would take her to a hospital for treatment.

Khalida refused to hand her baby to them. On her refusal, they injected her with sedatives.

Waheed said when Khalida came to, Tasneem told her that her newborn daughter had died and had been buried.

Waheed said Khalida insisted that she had given birth to a boy and tried to negotiate with them for the return of her child.

On Monday Khalida lodged a complaint at the city police officer’s (CPO) office against the two women.

CPO Abdur Razzaq Cheema directed the Lyallpur Town police superintendent to register a case and investigate the claims.

Waheed said a police team comprising Civil Lines SHO Inspector Masood Nazeer, Investigation Incharge Inspector Tauseef Ahmad Khan, Sub Inspector Aman Ullah conducted raids. They recovered the abducted boy and arrested Tasneem.
