By-election probe: Committee holds first meeting

Only one complaint had been reported to the committee regarding the incident.

NOWSHERA: An investigation committee formed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to probe into reports of women being barred from voting in the August 22 by-polls in NA-5 Nowshera and NA-27 Lakki Marwat held its first meeting on Monday. A committee comprising the deputy commissioner, district returning officer and district police officer was formed to conduct the investigation. The committee collected information from former women councilors, heads and deputy heads of union councils, female teachers, women police officers, intelligence officials and journalists. The meeting was chaired by district and sessions judge Abdur Rauf Khan. Only one complaint had been reported to the committee regarding the incident.
