Shot and injured: Policeman attacked by gunmen

BANNU: A law enforcement agency (LEA) official was shot and injured by unidentified militants while returning home in Fatima Khel area of Bannu late Friday night. Saddar police official Asadullah Khan said sub-inspector Umer Niaz Shah was heading home on his motorbike when gunmen intercepted him and opened fire, injuring Shah severely. Khan added the assailants managed to escape while police rushed to the site and shifted the injured to District Headquarters Hospital. A search operation was launched soon after, but no arrests were made. In a separate incident, the house of another LEA official was damaged when a bomb planted by unidentified militants exploded in Mohallah Nawab.
