Waziri girl's viral talent captivates nation
Aina Wazir's inspiring journey sparks hope for girls in tribal areas

In a heartwarming tale of raw talent emerging from one of Pakistan's most remote regions, 10-year-old Aina Wazir from Shewa village in North Waziristan has taken social media by storm with her impressive fast bowling and confident batting in local children's cricket matches.
Videos of the young girl delivering fiery spells with remarkable pace, accuracy, and control, while also showcasing strong batting, have gone viral, garnering thousands of shares and widespread praise. Her energetic style, innocent face, and bold determination have not only impressed online viewers but also elevated pride across the tribal district.
In a recent emotional video message, Aina expressed her big dreams: "When I grow up, I want to play for the Pakistan women's team. I want girls from our area to play and progress too." She extended special thanks to Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi, who, moved by her viral clips, announced her inclusion in the upcoming Zalmi Women's League. Describing it as the biggest moment of her life, Aina said the opportunity means the world to her.
She also acknowledged Nabil Afridi for committing to support her education and enrollment in a cricket academy. "If I get this support, I will work even harder," she said. "I want good academies and schools in North Waziristan so more children can thrive."
Locals hail Aina as proof that talent knows no boundaries of geography or resources. A village elder told reporters, "She is our daughter. She has brought honor to all of Waziristan. The government should support such girls."
Social media users echo this sentiment, noting that with proper guidance and facilities, North Waziristan could produce national and international stars. The region faces significant challenges: limited sports grounds, absence of formal cricket academies, uneven pitches lacking coaching or modern equipment, and inadequate educational infrastructure.
