Complaints cell: LHC leaves gang rape case to Chiniot judge

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday disposed of a gang rape case after it was reported that the challan had been submitted and that the accused were being tried by an additional sessions judge in Chiniot.


The LHC Complaint Cell had taken notice of a newspaper report saying that the parents of the rape survivor had been told to withdraw the case or face consequences.

The newspaper item had said that even though a case had been registered, no arrest had been made.

The survivor’s parents were reported to have alleged that the police were siding with the accused and pressuring them to withdraw the case.

The Chiniot district and sessions judge informed the LHC that two people had been arrested in connection with the case.

One of them had also been placed on the exit control list (ECL),the LHC was told.

The deputy superintendent of police supervising the case said the challan had been submitted in the court of judge Khawaja Muhammad Zafar Iqbal.
