He said this in a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday where he maintained that he was willing to assist on the matter.
The JUI-F chief had earlier welcomed the offer of Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) to talk to the government and had called it a step in the right direction.
TTP in their offer for talks with the government had recommended Rehman and Jamaat-Islami chief Munawar Hasan as intermediaries.
Rehman said that the previous government did not take the offer seriously but the current government should consider making it an important component of the country's anti-terrorism strategy.
Fazlur Rehman said he wanted to help since no substantial developments were made on the matter since the TTP's offer, reported Express News correspondent Shaheryar Khan.

Even Though I do not agree with Fazl ur Rehman's way of doing politics. This is a good sign shown by him by coming forward. Since no other party especially from K-P is looking serious in this matter.

JUI-F, PMLN and PTI = Taliban. These are only three parties who is so far living with them.
If your going to negotiate with your enemy - don't hire someone who dislikes you to act as mediator. It's not rocket science.

I say if he thinks he can do it then let him try and do it!....so far all that has happened is people talking about talking....I have no doubt that if the talks begin, they will end quickly....the TTP will not agree to stop killing and follow the laws of Pakistan...there will soon be nothing else to discuss and they will walk out and continue to terrorist the country...but at least all efforts will be exhausted before the government cracks down on these killers and eliminates them...
Pakistan helping Afghanistan in talking to Taliban and Maulana trying to help Pakistan in Talking to another branch of Taliban. Looks like Taliban are being used like cards in power game.
He didn't say whose side he will be taking during negotiations. Pakistan's or Taliban's?
