KARACHI: The Ahle Sunnat Waljamaat (ASWJ) protested in Karachi on Monday to demand better security measures and blocked parts of Shahra-e-Faisal, the main artery in the city, Express News reported.

The protest came to an end after negotiations with the police. ASWJ spokesperson Maulana Akbar Saeed said that they want the people responsible for Karachi chapter spokesperson Maulana Akbar Saeed Farooqi’s murder caught.

He added that the Inspector General told them that he is willing to listen to their demands and that if their demands were not met, they would return to protest again on Tuesday.

ASWJ Karachi chapter spokesperson Maulana Akbar Saeed Farooqi, 26, was killed in an assault on University Road after he was returning from a party protest. Unidentified armed men opened fire at him near Safari Park. He was taken to Liaquat National Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

“The National Crisis Management Cell had informed the Home Ministry of a hit-list, which also included Maulana Saeed’s name. He was at risk but the government did not provide him with any security despite repeated appeals,” said ASWJ Karachi chief Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqi.

He added that ASWJ men were being targeted across the country. “Nine Ahle Sunnat men were killed in Bhakkar, while three innocent madrassah students have been killed in Islamabad within three days.”

@Pakistani and Adnan, in case you didn't know, the shias started persecuting and assasinating Sipah Sahaba when they first formed and started exposing the filth, lies and hatred in the shia books. SSP people would be arrested, tortured and killed again ang again. So a point came that some people broke off from SSP and formed LEJ to take revenge. In 2012 alone more than 370 sunnis were killed by shias. Kindly learn the facts first then open your mouths please. Real terrorists are the shias and police who killed sunnis. The media is also responsible as they hid these facts from the majority sunni sheeple.

It's really fun to watch sunnis bashing their own sunni ulema and mujahideen and commenting to kill them whether in Pakistan, Afghansitan, Iraq or Syria. I would LOVE to see the shias condemn their hate mongering zakirs and terrorist target killers of Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebbanon once in a while. What kind of an animal would support a psychtoic murderous, rapist army like bashar's army, ask the shias and they'll tell you.

Every life is precious and every killing is condemnable. It is sad that few persons here are applauding it :( Sectarian violence can never end this way. All sects should follow the policy of restraint. Keep living and allow others to live.
