LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday announced Rs100 million for relief efforts in the flood hit areas of Punjab. The money would be released on an immediate basis.

The decision was taken following a high-level meeting on the recent floods across the province.

Addressing the officials present at the meeting, the chief minister directed concerned authorities to reinforce embankments alongside rivers, streams and canals across Punjab to prepare against the possibility of further flash floods. He also directed concerned officials to closely monitor the situation in flood-stricken areas and to take action against illegal construction along waterways to prevent the risk of further rain-related disasters.

The chief minister also took serious notice of the construction of bridge over Chenab river near Garh Maharaja without any precautionary arrangements against future flooding and ordered an inquiry into the matter.

In 2010 when the water hits our lands and destroyed many houses and crops all over the country. The whole country stands for the help of flood victims. Just in last three years what happend to our nation? Wt happend to television media that we are not giving any more coverage to people who are daying with hunger who lost everything in this flood. For us elections are so important because we are paid for it. PM sahib announced this fund but how many of us know the procedures for getting these funds. Its easy to say but its hard to do.

Announcing meager awards which never get delivered to the common man is a Travesty Autho meri quam ke ghariboon ko jaka do
