BAHAWALPUR:

A woman was burned to death in Liaquatpur on Thursday allegedly by her in-laws.

Police arrested two of her brothers-in-law. They said they were looking for her father-in-law and sister-in-law, who were also nominated in the FIR registered on the complaint of the brother of the deceased. Manzoor Ahmad, a resident of Basti Gulab in Muhammad Daha village, said his sister Shazia Bibi had married Akbar Baloch a few years ago. He said Baloch had been working in Saudi Arabia. He said Shazia Bibi had developed differences with her in-laws.

On Thursday, he said Shazia had an argument with her father-in-law Ata Muhammad after which he, his daughter Shameem Bibi and his two sons Muhammad Asghar and Muhammad Akhtar threw kerosene oil at her and set her on fire.

Ahmad said some neighbours who heard her shout for help informed her parents. She was taken to tehsil headquarters hospital, where she was pronounced a few hours later.
