Mercedes Exectuive Director Toto Wolff has asserted his stance on the team to fight for consolidated success rather than chasing world titles in the second half of the season, according to Sky Sports.

Mercedes have emerged as title contenders in this year’s campaign even with just one title from three seasons.

Mercedes are second in the constructors’ championship, and Lewis Hamilton’s success at the Hungarian Grand Prix, has made him runner up in the drivers’ standings.

However, Wolff believes Mercedes should focus on consistency rather than chasing after a title.

“If half a year ago we would have talked about Championship opportunities, it would have been absolutely crazy,” he told Autosport.

“If you look at our competitors they’ve been able to perform at the top in a sustainable way. That’s what we need to achieve — consolidation should be the agenda for the second half of the year.”
