Fourth Day Of Operation: Army pursues militants into Darel Valley

According to residents, over 100 people apprehended during crackdown while suspects are being interrogated.

Crackdown against militants in Gilgit-Baltistan’s (G-B) Diamer district entered the fourth day as “the forces have moved into Darel Valley as the operation continues under army’s supervision,” superintendent police, Jhangir Khan told The Express Tribune.

“The operation is against those nominated by secret agencies for their role in violence including killings of three security officials,” he said, adding a DIG police is assisting the operation.

While the army is leading the operation, it is being supported by police whenever required.


Moreover, the grand jirga and the elected representatives have already given their tacit approval to the operation.

According to residents, over a 100 people have been apprehended during the crackdown while suspects are being interrogated by the army.
