LAHORE:

A two-judge bench of the Supreme Court on Monday issued a notice to the Ministry of Religious Affairs for August 19 on a petition filed by two Hajj group organisers to become party to the Hajj quota allocations case.

The bench, comprising Justice Tasadduq Hussain Jilani and Justice Azmat Saeed, issued the order on an application filed by Bin Ajmal and Khyser Travels.

The petitioners’ counsel Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique said his clients were not heard when the LHC’s order was set aside. He said they had earlier been given the Hajj quota following the LHC’s order.

Siddique asked for a stay order against allocation of Hajj quota to the ineligible Hajj tour operators.

The court declined the request but issued a notice to the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
