DERA ISMAIL KHAN:
The residence of a journalist was destroyed when a bomb planted by unidentified militants exploded in Dabkot, Wana, headquarters of South Waziristan, on Monday.
An official of the political administration said the incident occurred around 1am; the sound of the explosion was heard on the outskirts of the city. Khasadar officials were dispatched to the area where they saw the house of a tribal journalist destroyed.
The official informed unidentified militants had planted a high-intensity bomb outside the gate of Zafar Wazir’s house. The main gate and boundary wall of the residence were destroyed, while the rest of the structure has been partially damaged.
The official added Wazir had been receiving threats from militants. “Most journalists working in South Waziristan have been warned,” he said, adding Wazir had no enemies who would have targeted his house.
