Having helped Pakistan’s development sector over the years, Japan took a step further by signing a $104,534 agreement for a free eye hospital in Badin. The grant was bestowed to Layton Rahmatullah Benevolent Trust (LRBT) under the scheme of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects, said the consul-general of Japan, Akira Ouchi, speaking at the ceremony on Tuesday.
The LRBT, built in 1987, currently runs 17 hospitals and 52 clinics providing free eye treatment across the country. The chairperson of the hospital, Khawaja Zafar Hussan, expressed his gratitude over the grant and extended his thanks by signing the agreement. Hussan, optimistic about the grant, said that it would be used for the construction of a new operation theatre in Badin. They will also get more equipment and a generator.
