Judicial decision: ATC awards 32 years of jail term to three prisoners

Three kidnappers were sentenced to 32 years of imprisonment by the ant-terrorism court in a kidnapping for ransom case. 



The prosecution said that accused, Abdul Aziz, Muhammad Usman and Ghulam Abbas kidnapped Vasdev Lohano, a doctor, near Gulshan-e-Hadeed and demanded a ransom of Rs10 million. The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and the Steel Town police traced the men and recovered the doctor in an encounter in Malir’s Memon Goth area in November 2011.

A case, No.220/11, under section 365-A and 34 read with section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, was registered against them. According to the court decision, the accused will serve life term in prison for the kidnapping case and seven years imprisonment for possession of illegal weapons. The court fined each accused Rs25, 000 and in case of non-payment they are ordered to serve an additional six months in prison. The accused were remanded back to prison to serve their sentences.
