Three extortionists arrested in Lahore

The extortionists were demanding two million rupees per month, threatened to murder on refusal.

Police have arrested three men for attempting to extort money in Lahore, Express News reported on Wednesday.

The three men who were identified as Akram, Munnawar and Haider attempted to extort money from a Dr Shehzad.

They demanded two million rupees per month and when he refused, they threatened to kill him.


With the help of the police, a drop off point was determined and when Dr Shehzad reached the location, the three men were taken into custody.


Extortion has been rampant in the country and this is not the first case such an incident has occurred. Unidentified men attacked a house in Shabqadar, Charsadda for a third time after the resident refused to pay extortion money.


A shop was attacked in Karachi on July 25th for non-payment of extortion money. Before that, two people were injured when an explosion took place near a mosque in Sikandarpurah on 21st July.
