BARA:

Two Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers and eight suspected militants were killed in a clash in the tribal areas in the early hours of Wednesday.

Talking to The Express Tribune, an official of the Bara political administration said that over a dozen suspected militants attacked an FC check post in the Patao area, at the confluence of Bara, Frontier Region Kohat and Darra Adam Khel. According to the official, eight attackers were killed after the FC personnel manning the post returned fire. Although they forced the suspected militants to flee, two FC men were killed in the exchange of fire, he added.

The official said reinforcements arrived at the post immediately following the incident. Despite launching a search operation for the attackers, the security personnel could not find them.

Six bodies found

Six bullet-riddled bodies were discovered in Bara early.

According to the Bara political administration official, residents of the tehsil’s Gandao area informed the administration of the bodies. Khasadar officials moved the bodies to the Shah Kas Levies fort in Jamrud for identification. No-one has claimed the bodies yet, he added.

Tribesmen from the area, however, claimed the bodies belonged to the militants killed in the attack on the FC check post in the Patao area. The attackers may have been unable to carry them and as such may have dumped them, they said.

On July 25, 21 bodies of suspected militants were found in Bara. They were buried after no one turned up to claim them.
