QUETTA:

Four members of a proscribed organisation were killed on Tuesday in a pre-dawn raid on their hideout on the outskirts of Quetta.

“Acting on a tip-off, paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) and police raided a house in the Eastern Bypass area of Quetta before daybreak and engaged the militants inside in a gun battle,” FC spokesperson told The Express Tribune.

“Four members of a banned outfit were killed and one paramilitary soldier was wounded in the firefight,” he said, adding that four children and a woman were freed from the house. The spokesman said the FC and police raiding party also recovered one Kalashnikov assault rifle, two 9mm pistols, homemade bombs, one suicide vest, 10kgs of explosives, one laptop, four walkie-talkie sets, 10 remote-control bombs and four bomb circuits.

Inspector General FC Major General Obaidullah Khan Khattak appreciated his force for the successful raid. He said the FC would do everything that it could to restore peace in Balochistan.
