Free will marriage: Man injures father-in-law

Police said some witnesses had claimed that Bhatti had injured himself to implicate Siddique.

BAHAWALPUR: The father of a woman called by a court to ascertain whether she had been kidnapped or married of her free will was attacked allegedly by his son-in-law on Friday. Police arrested the assailant, an accomplice, the woman’s father, her brother and an uncle. Cantonment police said Ahmad Bhatti’s daughter had allegedly eloped with Saifal Siddique two weeks ago and married him. Bhatti had registered a kidnapping case against Siddique. They were all summoned to the court on Friday when Siddique allegedly attacked Bhatti with a knife. He was taken to a hospital, from where he was later taken to the police station. Police said some witnesses had claimed that Bhatti had injured himself to implicate Siddique.
