KRL defeat Navy in one-sided encounter

KARACHI: Defending champions Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) defeated Pakistan Navy 2-0 in their second meeting of the Pakistan Premier League (PPL) match in Rawalpindi.

KRL’s Muhammad Qasim scored in the sixth minute as he slipped the ball past goal-keeper Ishaq Ahmed before Ziaus Salam doubled the lead three minutes later with a powerful shot.

KRL continued to dominate in the second half as well as Jalil Ahmed scored in the 59th minute before the referee dismissed the goal as a foul.

Despite the setback, KRL maintained their lead as Navy found it hard to score. KRL are now placed sixth in the 16-team PPL with eight points while Navy are placed 10th after secured six points in six matches.

Wapda and Afghan Football Club are leading the league with 16 points each, while Karachi Port Trust hold second position with 13 points.
