Religious preacher among four killed

At least four people were killed in separate acts of violence in the city on Thursday.


A member of a Tablighi Jamaat was shot dead near his under-construction house in Nazimabad No. 2 in the limits of Gulbahar police station. According to police, the victim, identified as Hafiz Karim Ullah, son of Yameen, was shot dead by unidentified assailants while he was reciting the Quran.

In a separate incident, Chakiwara police found the body of a young man, identified as 21-year-old Amjad Baluch, early Thursday morning. The deceased was reportedly affiliated with Ghaffar Zikri’s group. Police said unidentified men had kidnapped Baluch before killing him and then dumped his body at an abandoned place.

Rehman Shah, 35, was shot dead near Mubarak Mosque in the limits of Jackson police station. Police said the victim was a resident of the same area and hailed from Swabi.

Separately, Pirabad police shot dead an alleged dacoit, identified as Haroon, while his accomplice managed to escape. The victim was allegedly snatching mobile phones at Jamshed Petrol pump when police reached.
