A delegation from the World Bank, headed by Pakistan Country Director Rachid Benmessaoud, met Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Muhammad Shehzad Arbab to discuss development priorities and the government’s plans in the next three to five years.

A press release issued on Thursday said the meeting was attended by the additional chief secretaries of the finance and planning and development departments along with other representatives of the provincial government. Benmessaoud said it would help the donor organisation if themes for further engagement could be identified. The World Bank official said it was important to understand the government’s development vision for its tenure.

Jobs, governance, human development and energy were decided as support priorities. An action plan to enhance growth and create job opportunities was also discussed. Chief Secretary Shahzad Arbab said he hoped engagements of mutual interest would continue in the future.
