LAHORE:

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered an inquiry into the death of three children at Children’s Hospital.

Relatives of four-month-old Mustaqim from Sargodha, nine-month-old Ghulam Abbas from Gujranwala, and an infant girl protested outside the hospital on Wednesday, blocking the Metro Bus route.

Health Minister Khalil Tahir Sindhu visited the hospital and said an impartial inquiry would be conducted and the doctors, if found to have been negligent, would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Dr Masud Kausar, a senior professor at the hospital, said the three children died of various illnesses and not because of doctors’ negligence. He said one child had a heart condition, another had a brain tumour, and the infant girl was already critical when brought to the hospital.
