On a tip-off: Rangers arrest gangster Akbar Maliri

The Rangers found arms and ammunitions in possession of the accused.

KARACHI: Rangers carried out a raid in Malir and arrested a notorious gangster of banned Peoples Amn Committee, Akbar Maliri on Friday.

According to Rangers official, the raid was carried out on a tip-off in Bakra Piri area of Malir, where the Rangers arrested Maliri, who was wanted in several cases of extortion, kidnappings and murder in different police stations of the city.

The Rangers found arms and ammunitions in possession of the accused.

Later, family members and residents of Malir, staged a protest in front of Malir Court on National Highway against the arrest and demanded the Rangers to release the accused.

The protesters chanted slogans against law enforcers and burnt tyres and pelted stones on vehicles to disrupt the traffic on roads.

The protesters later dispersed after negotiations with the police and the Rangers officials.
