KARACHI:

The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has said that there will be no load-shedding during sehar, iftar and taraveeh times during the month of Ramzan.

This was announced following assurances by the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to provide adequate gas and from the government to pay a part of their outstanding dues. All residential and commercial areas have been exempted from power cuts between 6pm and 11pm, and then from 2pm to 7am during sehar, it was announced.

The decision was taken following the supply of 220 MMCFD of natural gas from the SSGC to KESC’s power generating plants and a commitment from the gas company that it would continue to provide the same volume of gas during Ramzan on a regular basis.

The KESC had recently appealed to the federal finance minister, Ishaq Dar, to pay at least Rs10 billion of the total outstanding amount of Rs77 billion to enable the power entity to exempt residential and commercial consumers from load-shedding.

The outage experienced was due to sudden drop in gas pressure, as soon as it was normalized, LS was normalized. Inconvenience regretted.
