KARACHI: An assistant sessions judge in district East, Sarwat Sultana, on Monday sentenced Muhammad Saqib to five years of imprisonment after he was found guilty of robbing a man, Muhammad Gulab.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs30,000 on him. In the FIR, Gulab had told the police that Saqib along with three accomplices, Saeed Khan, Namroz, and Abdullah, had snatched Rs40,000, a mobile phone and a motorcycle from him.

The victim also complained that a couple of days ago the men had tried to illegally occupy one of his plots. He alleged that they were demanding Rs300,000 extortion from him.

The judge while issuing non-bailable arrest warrants for Saqib’s accomplices declared them as absconders.

The accused was remanded back to prison to serve out the sentence.
