KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) deputy convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that their opponents had always hatched conspiracies against the party and Altaf Hussain but now propaganda has been initiated at the international level.

Addressing the party’s General Workers Convention at Lal Qila Ground in Azizabad, Siddiqui said that Pakistan was facing different kinds of issues, including terrorism, load-shedding and poverty and asked the media to play its due role. “It is the responsibility of the media to point out issues so that the state could address them and it must refrain from spreading hatred and prejudice.”

Haider Abbas Rizvi said that minus-Altaf formula would never materialise. “They want an MQM without Altaf but they will have nothing in the end.”

Rizvi asked the workers to remain steadfast as the party will soon overcome the current crisis. “All eyes are on us and we must show unity and discipline.”

Speaking about the menace of fitra collection in Ramazan, Siddiqui asked the workers to keep any eye out for those who use the party’s name to collect Zakat and fitra. Siddiqui said that MQM was the only party in Pakistan that is committed to serving the people and those who wish to demoralise the party workers will not succeed.

Rizvi also added that serving the humanity was the aim of MQM and cited the services of Khidmat-Khalq Foundation as an example.
