KARACHI:

A suspected suicide bomber and 10 more suspected militants were taken into custody during a targeted operation in Manghopir, a Taliban stronghold in Karachi, on Friday.

The operation was carried out on a tip-off about the presence of suspected terrorists in Manghopir’s Sultanabad locality. Around 1,500 Rangers personnel, including the women wing, participated in the operation.

The Rangers did not face resistance from the terrorists, which led to the detention of 11 suspects who were moved to an undisclosed location for questioning. The detained suspects belonged to the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), however the Rangers spokesperson did not confirm about the suspects’ affiliation with the TTP and added that ball crackers, ball bearings, smoke grenades, mix ammunition and 46 weapons of different calibers were found during the operation. The suspects were not handed over to the police as initial questioning with them was underway.
