Forestalling actions: Commissioner cautions against floods

City Commissioner Ghulam Mustafa Phull held a meeting with to review precautionary measures for potential floods and monsoon rains on Thursday.

The commissioner emphasised on engineers gearing up efforts to strengthen protective bunds along the river side to prevent water from breaking out. He directed his officials to make contingency plans and start acting upon them. He asked his deputies to hold meetings with irrigation officers regularly. He further asked the engineers to make all necessary efforts to carry out strengthening work on embankments in Kashmore, Shikarpur, Larkana, Jacobabad and Qambar-Shahdadkot and asked officials to visit the bund sites. Other than transportation, relief camps, medical facilities and food supplies arrangements, he insisted on control rooms in district headquarters.
