ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday nominated Justice (retd) Rehmat Jafri and former federal secretary Khawaja Zaheer for the post of National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) chairperson, Express News reported.

Nawaz has written a letter to Opposition leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah in this regard.

The opposition can accept the names suggested by the premier or raise valid objections. It can also suggest more names for the post.

According to the 18th Amendment, the chairman of NAB cannot be appointed without the consent of the opposition leader in the National Assembly.

Earlier a judicial verdict, stating that the former premier had not duly consulted with then National Assembly opposition leader had resulted in the ousting of NAB’s former chairman Admiral (Retd) Fasih Bokhari.

Currently, office of the NAB chairman is vacant as the post cannot be filled by a caretaker head according to the rules and regulations.

Yes, justice Bhagwan Das is the best and most suited person for Chairman NAB although Admiral Bokhari was equally suitable person but only deprived of the post because of obstinacy of ch nisar ali khan, wish the oppostion leader responds with open heart and does not retaliate.
