Reanimating the old friction between Punjab and Sindh over control of natural and financial resources, the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz started a series of protests against the country’s bigger province on Monday.
“The way Punjab is making Sindh financially and economically weaker, we will do the same with it,” said Dr Niaz Kalani, the party’s vice chairman who was leading hundreds of protesters.
The JSQM announced the sit-ins on June 27. Their 24-hour-long sit-in in Hyderabad will move to Benazirabad and Naushehro Feroze in the next two days.
The protesters only blocked the upcountry track of the highway while traffic was allowed to move on the other track towards Hyderabad and Karachi. The party’s young chairperson, Sanan Qureshi, who took the helm after the death of his father, Bashir Khan Qureshi, alleged that Punjab had been committing excesses to Sindh since the country’s independence.

@ Sindhi pakistani...Last 5 years there was Sindh's govt on Pk...i guess u had a nice sleep that time...
Stop being played in hands of these feudals...use your own brains who has given what to Pakistan...
@Sindhi Pakistani:
Dear, what ever Sindh contributes in taxes, is mainly because that all bigger corporations of the country are based in Karachi doing business in the whole country, and pay taxes from their head offices. GST is paid on the basis of consumer purchasing, do you REALLY believe that Sindh spends 70% of the entire money in the country? Whatever Sindh contributes, otherwise take back in the form of electricity theft. out of 1500 billion (not millions) rupees were given to Wapda to cover theft losses. Meanwhile, also remember all 5 electricity companies in Punjab are in Profit, so every paisa of that profit plus 1500 billion went to Sindh, KPK and Baluchistan electricity losses.
When will this tribalism and provincialism stop in Pakistan? will it ever stop?
@Sindhi Pakistani: I am sure PPP govt was anti sindh.
