Militant attack: Police station assaulted

Ahmad said police constables were guarding the building when the explosions occurred.

LAKKI MARWAT: Unidentified militants attacked Sarai Naurang police station by lobbing hand grenades and opening fire on Sunday evening. No loss was reported in the attack.

“Around 8:30pm, an explosion occurred at the south-eastern side of the police station while seconds after another explosion occurred at the same spot,” said Mir Ahmad Marwat, SHO of Sarai Naurang police station. Ahmad said police constables were guarding the building when the explosions occurred followed by heavy firing. He added officers in the watch tower retaliated first and were followed by other police officials at the station.

“After 15 minutes of heavy gunfire, the militants fled.” Police launched a search operation in the area, however, no arrests were made till the filing of this report.
